history
since its move to carytown in 2000, this woman-owned and operated studio has developed a full schedule of classes in a range of yoga styles for all levels of students; a nationally-recognized teacher training program offering advanced study with internationally-known instructors; and has come to be recognized as an important community resource in Richmond and central virginia.
lynn brooke and anne battle, along with pam mcgeorge and joann bibb, co-founded yoga source in a small studio at st. stephen’s church in 1998. from those modest beginnings, increased demand for more yoga classes inspired the founders to move the studio in 2000 to a larger, more accessible location: two second-floor studios in the cary court shopping center, in the heart of carytown. by 2002, construction had begun on a third studio space within the suite, and yoga source’s programs had expanded to include a nine-month certification program for aspiring yoga instructors.
