class description


iyengar

Discover the subtleties of asanas by integrating the whole body using props, timings, and intelligent inquiry. A progressive practice of standing pose sequences, backbends, forward bends, twists and restorative postures to develop a strong foundation through precise body alignment. Postures are held for significant time periods to give increased physical and mental benefits. This method emphasizes self-awareness and longevity.


level 1 ~ beginner
Start here to build strength, stamina and flexibility by learning the basics of hatha yoga ~ postures (asana), breath work (pranayama) and relaxation (savasana).

level 2 ~ intermediate
You have a strong foundation and a developed degree of strength, stamina and flexibility that allows for refinement. Includes forward bends, twists, backbends and inversions.

level 2-3 ~ continuing intermediate
At this level, you are refining intermediate asanas, can confidently hold Sirsasana (headstand) and push up into Urdhva Dhanurasana (upward facing bow).

level 3 ~ advanced
For the experienced student strong in intermediate asana. Emphasis on inversions and variations, backbends and arm balances. Expand your practice and transform yourself.
