In 1986, while living in Newport, RI, Evelyn Zak began her yoga studies at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health. She completed a 200-hour residential teacher certification program in 1993 under the direction of Jeffrey Migdow, MD. Since then, she has been teaching in group and private settings on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, in the NY/NJ area and now in Richmond. Evelyn is currently a candidate for 500-hour certification at Kripalu.
In 1996, Evelyn completed Level 3 Practitioner training with Michael Lee of Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. Also at this time, she produced an instructional audio tape entitled Yoga Primer which was positively reviewed by Yoga Journal. In 1998, Evelyn furthered her studies in anatomy and physiology at Old Dominion University in Norfolk and received certification from the American College of Sports Medicine as a Health/Fitness Instructor.
Over the years Evelyn has studied with Amrit Desai, Stephen Cope, Todd Norian, Kofi Busia, John Friend, Judith Lasater, and Dharma Mittra. She is a member of the Kripalu Yoga Teacher’s Association and the International Association of Yoga Therapists. Her personal experience with the healing aspects of yoga and meditation fuel her passion for sharing these ancient techniques.
