Anne Van Valkenburg grew up a southern California beach girl with passions for swimming, playing sports, horse-back riding and running. Since then, she has found yoga to be a great and necessary compliment to her life, adding the philosophy of yogic wisdom.
Initially, her practice began with strong Vinyasa flow classes with instructors Sara Ivanhoe and Annie Carpenter. Later, she began to explore Iyengar yoga to which her entire practice is now dedicated, thanks to her teacher Paul Cabanis.
As primarily an Iyengar student, her teaching style focuses on alignment with safe, moderately-paced sequences that challenge students to slow down. Students work very hard, but there is a balance between working and resting. Anne teaches in the YogaWorks style with a stong Iyengar influence.
