Refine Your Foundation: An Exploration of Standing Poses with Cherie Cooper, RYT 500

The standing postures are the foundation of asana practice. They develop our awareness, strength, and stability. They offer us a perfect opportunity to practice ahmisa (non-harming) and satya (truth) as we establish greater understanding of the body’s alignment. They are an expression of beauty. In this workshop we will build the temple of the body from the ground up, working especially with the feet, the head of the thighbone and the sits bone-to-heel connection. We will set a firm foundation and explore some exhilarating and fun variations. We will move from grounding and stability to confidence, lightness and freedom. Come be challenged, encouraged and inspired!

All levels and traditions are welcome although a familiarity with some basic standing postures such as Warrior I, Warrior II, Triangle and Extended Side Angle will be necessary.
