Daniel Perdue holds a PhD in Religious Studies from the University of Virginia's prestigious program in Buddhist Studies, where he focused mainly on Tibetan Buddhism and Hinduism. His approach to these traditions and to human spirituality in general is mainly philosophical and theological, especially the nature of faith, belief, and knowledge.
Since taking his PhD in 1983, he has taught at several colleges and universities including Antioch University's Program in Buddhist Studies in Bodh Gaya, India, Sweet Briar College, the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, Washington and Lee University, and William and Mary. Dr. Perdue has spent more than three years in Asia pursuing research in India, Nepal, Thailand, and Japan. He has written and lectured extensively, especially on topics of Buddhist logic and epistemology. Dr. Perdue serves as a member of the board of the UMA Institute of Tibetan Studies.
