Diana Stoen

While recovering from an injury in 2006, a friend suggested yoga as a way to build strength when physical therapy was causing an increase in inflammation. “Do yoga, any kind of yoga,” the friend said. Starting with an afternoon “yoga basics” workshop at The Yoga Tree in San Francisco, Diana found the practice to be a useful tool to holistically heal the body, and release stress brought on by physical trauma. Unexpectedly, yoga became a way to discover the Self in a way that confronts old ideas and informs the decision making process on and off the mat. She started practicing Iyengar at Yoga Source after moving back to Richmond, VA in 2010. In 2015, Diana joined the front desk staff, and recommitted to and expanded her practice to include the Iyengar, Vinyasa, and Ashaya styles of Hatha Yoga. The yoga offered at Yoga Source, sparked a love of the philosophy and science of yoga which lead to Diana’s enrollment in the YogaWorks 200 hour training program. She approaches yoga as a science that may only be studied through experience and the mat is the laboratory. It through the practice and the community which surrounds Yoga Source, that she has gained the strength and courage to make radical changes in her life. By following her passion for helping others improve their overall wellness, Diana went into business as an Arbonne Consultant in 2018, and started earning the requirements to apply to medical school.  She has taught yoga since 2017 and is most grateful to her mentor Paula Millar for helping her find her voice.

When not studying or practicing yoga, you might find her riding bikes, or hiking, and possibly learning to surf (#goals).
