Diane Malaspina, M.S.Ed., Ph.D., is a psychologist and yoga teacher with over 15 years of experience in the health and wellness field. She is a Yoga Medicine E-RYT 500 instructor and Therapeutic Specialist. Her teaching and practice are a creative blend of slowing down and balancing the nervous system paired with stabilizing yoga postures to support sustainability in life and the yoga practice. Diane also teaches meditation workshops, leads retreats, and offers 200- and 300-hour yoga teacher training programs in her community.
As an Applied Psychologist, Diane has had many roles: psychology professor, research and evaluation consultant, behavioral interventionist, kindergarten teacher, and parenting coach. Diane’s area of expertise is human development and resilience over the lifespan, particularly helping individuals cope with stress. Stress can be related to genetic/biological variables or environmental causes, and her goal is to create positive behavioral change through solid intervention techniques aimed at reducing stress and acquiring positive coping strategies.
She earned 200-hour certifications from Shiva Rea (Prana Vinyasa Flow) and YogaWorks and a 500-hour certification from Yoga Medicine®, as well as hundreds of hours of advanced training in meditation, pranayama, and philosophy. She currently focuses on workshops, yoga teacher trainings, and therapeutics with private clients. She lives a few blocks from the Atlantic Ocean in Virginia Beach with her husband, Omar andrescue dog, Prana. She’s up for anything that’s outside – preferably in warmer climates with the sun shining and the sea nearby.
