Tia Platte, Owner/Director of Yoga Source, stumbled upon her very first yoga class in high school and has continued her studies of the yoga philosophy for over twenty years. Her dynamic teaching style is fluid yet alignment-based and filled with a little sweat and a lot of soul. Passionate about teaching intelligent vinyasa yoga with clarity and compassion, her approach fosters self-inquiry, curiosity, and a sense of playfulness! She strives to be a life-long student of this ancient practice and continues to share her knowledge, love and enthusiasm with all those who seek truth.
After moving to Richmond to study Dance and Choreography at VCU, she discovered Yoga Source in 1996. After graduating from VCU, she decided to expand on her studies of yoga through multiple teacher training programs starting in 1999 at Omega Institute (NY), Piedmont Yoga Studio (CA) in 2000, Yoga Mendocino (CA) in 2001 and YogaWorks (RVA) in 2008-10. In 2013, she completed the YogaWorks BarWorks® Certification and has since developed the Yoga Barre technique offered at Yoga Source in 2014.
In January 2018, Tia Platte became sole proprietor of Yoga Source after ten years of co-ownership with Myra Dionisio. She strives to continuously fulfill the Yoga Source mission of providing the community with an steady resource of inspiration. A space that offers a wide range of movement modalities from yoga classes to barre fitness, 200-hour and 300-hour yoga teacher training programs, yoga and barre apprenticeship programs, and continuing education workshops.
As the Teacher Training Director, Tia administers multiple training programs per year to include a basic 200-hour YogaWorks teacher training, 300-hr Sadhana Advanced teacher training, Apprenticeship program and 85-hour specialized trainings. She has mentored within the 300-hour YogaWorks Professional Program leading specialized workshops and presenting Anatomy modules within the 200-hr program. Tia is also the spearhead and lead Mentor of the Yoga Source Apprenticeship program. Her teaching repertoire includes Core Flow®, Deep Release®, Vinyasa Flow, Yin and Yoga Barre. Registered with the National Yoga Alliance since 2000, Tia holds an E-RYT 500 (experienced registered yoga teacher) and YACEP (continuing education provider) with the National Yoga Alliance. With 20 years of teaching under her belt, she remains a humble beginner and life-long student of the practice.
